Hello! Hop Step Jump we are halfway through our Halloween parties.
ハロー！ホップステップジャンプでは、ハロウィンのパーティレッスンの真っ最中。
The students look as though they are having a lot of fun, and enjoying the games!
子どもたちはゲームをしたりして、とっても楽しそうだよ！

This Halloween, the students have been singing and dancing to the skeleton song!
今年のハロウィンは「スケルトンダンス」という歌を、ダンスしながら歌ってるよ。
It’s a song written by Kathy Kampa.
キャシー・キャンパーという人が書いた歌。
I’m sure you’re heard it at home, they love the tune!
子どもたちはこの曲が大好きだから、おうちでも楽しめること間違いなし！
After singing and dancing, and playing games, the students have the chance to get candy!
歌を歌ってダンスしたら、その次はゲーム！子どもたちはキャンディをもらえるチャンス♪
That’s why children love Halloween; because “Trick or treating!”
子どもたちがハロウィンが好きなのは、トリック オー トリートがあるからだよね！
“Trick or treating” started in the USA, in 1940’s.
トリック オー トリートが始まったのは、1940年のアメリカでのこと。
When it started, children got fruits, cakes, cookies, toys, money or of course candy!
子どもたちはフルーツやケーキ、クッキー、おもちゃ、お金、もちろんキャンディなどがもらえるようになったんだね。
Chocolate makers realised that Halloween could be like Christmas and Easter.
チョコレートの製造会社はハロウィンもクリスマスやイースターと同様、お菓子が売れることに気づいたんだ。
They could sell lots chocolate, and candy!
それで、チョコレートやキャンディがたくさん売れたんだね！
They started to sell lots of different Halloween themed candy.
お菓子会社はいろんなハロウィンのテーマのキャンディを売り始めた。
People started to buy Halloween treats for their house parties, and giving them to children.
ハロウィンのお菓子はホームパーティや子どもたちにあげるために買われるように。
Children would visit neighbours house to get some different “treats”.
子どもたちはご近所にいろんな種類の「お菓子」をもらい歩けるようになったってわけだ。
At Halloween, it was OK for boys to be naughty or play “tricks”.
ハロウィンでは、いたずらや遊びを楽しめる男の子たちが許されちゃう日。
So people decided to give them treats, so that they wouldn’t damage their houses.
だから お菓子をあげることにして、おうちがいたずらされないようにしたんだね。
Children would say “Trick or treat?”, and could get candy if they weren’t naughty.
こどもたちは「トリック オー トリート」を言って、いたずらしない代わりに、お菓子をもらったんだ。
Then, in the 1970’s, candy became more popular than the other Halloween treats at Halloween.
それから1970年代、ハロウィンではキャンディをもらうことがポピュラーに。
Luckily, we don’t have naughty boys at Hop Step Jump English School so everyone can get some candy and Halloween snacks.
ラッキーなことに、ホップステップジャンプ英語教室にはいたずらっこな男の子はいないみたいだし、みんな邪魔されずにキャンディやハロウィンのお菓子がもらえるよ！
