It‘s  a new thing to introduce to our kids.

新しい試みを一つ、ご紹介します♪

I asked my friends around the world to make a video of themselves speaking English. 

いろんな国の友だちに、英語で自己紹介動画を撮って送ってくれないか、頼んでみました。

This week, kids met a new friend named “Love” through a video.

今週は「ラブ」というお友だち。

Love is a Pre-school Music teacher in Singapore.

ラブはシンガポールの幼稚園で、音楽の先生をしているの。

She made a short video about her job and hobbies.

仕事のこと、趣味のことを動画で語ってくれていました。

The students listened well to her video.

子どもたちは一生懸命彼女の動画に聞き入ってました。

It was interesting!

なかなか面白いでしょう！？

There are funny moments, too!

笑っちゃう出来事もありました！

In the video, love said “I’m a Filipino”.

動画でラブが「私はフィリピーノ(フィリピン人)です。」と言ったの。

But the students heard “I like Pino”. Pino is an ice cream!

でも子どもたちは“I like Pino”って聞こえたみたい！ピノって！アイスクリームだよね！笑

It’s a teaching moment, so I told them Filipino is a term used to call people from the Philippines.

もちろん、ちゃんとフィリピン人のことをフィリピーノと呼ぶことを伝えたけどね。

Like Japanese for Japan. British for the UK.

日本人のことをジャパニーズ、イギリス人のことをブリティッシュと呼ぶようにね。

There is one letter from H-kun.

こちらは動画を見たHくんからラブへ当てたレター。

He wrote this one:

He’s right, Natto smells bad!

そうだよね、納豆って臭うよね！笑

Another letter is from K-kun.

こちらはKくん

He was very interested to write a letter to someone so he asked lots of questions while writing a letter.

Kくんは手紙を書くことにとても興味惹かれたみたいで、手紙を書いている最中、たくさん質問してくれました。

I am excited for them to meet new faces again! They can learn new things, practice listening and writing and widen their vocabularies at the same time.

次のお友だちは誰かな？これによって新しいことが知れるし、リスニング力も鍛えられて、ライティングの力もついて、さらに語彙力も同時につけられるんじゃないかな。
