H-kun’s mum had some interesting new this week, which made me happy.
この間、Hくんのママが、なんだかおもしろくて、ハッピーになっちゃうような出来事を教えてくれたんだ。

H-kun saw a TV commercial which used English.
Hくんが、英語が使われてるテレビCMを見ていたんだって。
The TV commercial feature Nishikori Kei, the tennis player.
そのCMはテニス選手の錦織圭が出ていたんだ。
In the TV commercial he says something like “I’m hungry”.
「アイム ハングリー お腹が空いた」みたいなことを言っていたみたいで、
H-kun heard that English and wondered why tennis and “I’m hungry” are linked.
Hくんはその英語を聞いて、なんでテニスと「お腹がが空いた」が関係あるの？と不思議に思ったんだって。

With the olympics fast approaching there has been a clear increase in English being used on the TV.
オリンピックが目の前まで迫っている中、テレビでも英語が使われているものが明らかに増えてきたよね。
We are always happy to hear about our students being able to catch different English phrases and thinking about English at home.
ホップステップジャンプのみんなが、おうちでもいろんな英語を聞き取って、英語について考えてくれてるってことを聞くと、いつも嬉しくなっちゃうよ。

Soon our first graders will start to become more aware of English around them being used on shop signs and road signs too.
ホップステップジャンプの小学1年生は、今に、お店や道路などの身の回りの英語に、以前よりも気付き始めると思うよ。
Hopefully, they’ll start to think about the phonics, which they learn in the lesson, and start to read some of the words.
レッスンでフォニックスを習っているからね、レッスンを思い出して、少しずつ読めるようになってくると思うんだ。
