At Hop Step Jump we are trying to teach our students English which they can use, but it’s not our only goal.
ホップステップジャンプで、僕たちは生徒のみんなが使える英語を教えているけれど、実はそれだけが目標ではないんだ。
We encourage them to borrow games, books and DVD’s, and it makes us happy to know that they play the games which we have made.
僕たちはみんなに、ゲームや本、DVDを借りていくことを勧めているね？
僕たちは生徒のみんなが、僕たちの作ったゲームで遊んでくれることが本当に嬉しいんだ。
Our main goal is to give students the confidence to use English outside of the classroom.
実はね、僕たちの1番大きな目標は、生徒のみんなにクラスの外でも自信をもって、英語を使ってもらうことなんだ。
We are happiest when we hear stories of students using English in unexpected situations.
僕たちが想像できなかった状況の中で、生徒のみんなが英語を使ったよ！って話をしてくれることが、僕たちにとって1番の幸せです。
This week I spoke to a students mother about her daughter.
今週、僕はある生徒さんのお母さんと、彼女の娘さんについて話をしました。
Her daughter’s school recently had a visit from an ALT.
彼女の娘さんの学校に、最近ALTの先生が来たそうです。
She is still in the second grade and so the ALT doesn’t visit her class that often but this month he did!
彼女はまだ小学校二年生なので、ALTの先生は彼女のクラスにはなかなか来ませんでしたが、今月ついにALTの先生が彼女のクラスに来たそうです！
She was really happy because she was able to understand some of the things he was talking about.
彼女はALTの先生が言っていることがいくつかわかったので、本当に本当に嬉しかったそうです！
We don’t know what they talked about, but she was really excited to return home and tell her mother about meeting a new foreign teacher.
僕たちは彼らが何を話したのかわかりませんが、彼女はすごく興奮して家に帰ってきて、お母さんに、新しい外国の先生にあったことを話したそうです。
When I heard this story I thought it was great.
僕がこの話をきいたとき、本当にすごい！と感動しました。
The same student was once so shy and quiet (and still is), but now she has taken another step forward, and has taken the chance to use English outside of the Hop Step classroom.
かつて彼女は人見知りで、今でもまだ静かな子ですが、日々前進しているんです！
ホップステップのクラスの外でも英語を使うチャンスをこうしてしっかりと掴んでる！
